Death Overcomes Me (Audio)

Death Overcomes Me
By: Tonya Ross

Splinded memories fill my head
Pleasantries of times gone by.
Calming peaceful thoughts,
Giving way to things left unsaid.

Emotion washes over me,
Can’t control the tears I cry.
Wanting you dearly,
As I swim in an endless sea.

Happiness is not ours to have,
Why is it you had to die?
Time not on our side,
Wounds so deep, with no healing salve.

Want to turn back the hands of time,
I breathe slowly as I sigh.
My rock is gone now,
I jump, as the cuckoo clock chimes.

Despair and pain are daily things,
Have to work through this, I’ll try.
No promise spoken,
At least now dear, you have your wings.
